Poppy, a hopelessly romantic child of divorced parents, goes on a mission to tumble across her life partner.  Her search spans across two decades and three continents. She explores online dating, speed dating and dating locally, listing the pros and cons of each mode as she meets all sorts of men.  This memoir infuses an ungodly serving of humour along with a  proportionate amount of suspense and horror.  But at the end of the book does Poppy Mortimer finally meet the love of her life?  Take a ride through her worst dates to find out more.

The narration of the book was pricise and coherent. Similar to that of Daniel Coyle, she manages to present reality with an optimistic sparkle that succeeds in warming your heart. I loved how Poppy's age, location etc were first mentioned and adding funny chapter names (something which I would like to see more frequently in books) earned bonus points. The self-help certainly presents a realistic view on present day dating. The chapters that require trigger warnings are introduced with them, another thing I found useful.  This book is well edited with almost no errors and a coherent flow.

I did not find any problem with the book and certainly enjoyed it throughly. The profanities were censored thus borderline.

I rate 28 Disastrous Dates: A (Mostly True) Humourous Memoir five out of five stars and recommend it to any adult in search of a realistic yet relaxing read. It is a coming of age book that will give insight to those new to dating. If you are looking for a relatable read, you have reached the perfect book.
