George Washington Dealmaker-in-Chief: The Story of How the Father of Our Country Unleashed the Entrepreneurial Spirit of America by Cyrus Ansary is a historical account of George Washington's business and political endeavor as the first President of the United States of America. The book explores Washington's early years as a surveyor and land speculator, his military career during the Revolutionary War, and his presidency. Ansary argues that Washington's entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to take risks were key to his success in these various endeavors.

The author also explores the economic and political climate of the time, detailing how Washington navigated the challenges of a young and growing nation. Washington's efforts to encourage trade, establish a national bank, and promote economic growth are highlighted.

Through historical research and narrative, Ansary presents Washington as a savvy dealmaker and influential figure in American business and politics. The book sheds light on lesser-known aspects of Washington's life and legacy and provides insight into the early years of the United States.

However, the book felt like it was trying too hard to make George Washington seem like a business genius. The author kept attributing modern business concepts to Washington's actions, which felt forced and out of place. The book also jumped back and forth between different time periods and topics without a clear narrative thread.

Finally, there is a lack of analysis or critical engagement with Washington's actions. The author seemed to take for granted that everything Washington did was successful and beneficial for the country, without examining potential downsides or critiques.

I give this book a 4 out of 5 stars. This book provides a fascinating look at a lesser-known side of George Washington - his business acumen. Ansary did an excellent job of exploring Washington's entrepreneurial spirit and how it shaped his career. However, the book lacked structure as it jumped back and forth between different time periods, and the author's theories often felt forced.

George Washington Dealmaker-in-Chief is a book I recommend to anyone who wants to read about a lesser-known side of George Washington. It is also an excellent read for those who are fascinated with American history and want a fresh perspective on a well-known figure.
