Review of A Dream For Peace
One major point that comes out after reading A Dream for Peace by Ghoulem Berrah is that success is not always about our education, professional advancement, and money but also about the impact we make on other people's lives. Ghoullem was a true patriot to his country Algeria as well as Africa. For example, he expressed his desire to free his country from French colonial rule even at a young age. Even as a student in foreign countries, he continued mobilizing his friends from Africa to fight for the rights of their less privileged friends. Because of his stand, he draws the attention of many people, including leaders of various nations who wish to work with him. Houphouët, the president of Côte d'Ivoire, is the best example. He also demonstrated relentless efforts in fighting for peace in the world through the organization of dialogues to help end the Israel and Palestine conflicts. He advocated for peace by negotiating a good relationship between Christians and Muslims.
I enjoyed and learned from this novel. I liked the friendship between President Houphouët and Berrah. I liked how they supported each other and the advice the president gave Berrah, especially when he was in a love triangle. The book also relieves anxiety among younger people who are pressured to marry. Berrah did not hurry to get married and instead took time to develop his education and career. He settled for marriage when he was past 35 years old, so there is no need for a rush. Indeed, success attracts haters and even enemies. For example, some cabinet members did not like it when Houphouët reached out to Berrah. The author also surpassed my expectations; he did not serve Africa alone but also other nations outside Africa; for example, he took part in ending the Israel-Palestine conflict.
One thing that puzzled me was how he ended the relationship with his X-lover, Antoinette. Though I liked the use of photographs, some were blurry, and the writings were difficult to read. I did not have another issue with the book.
I only noted a few grammatical errors, meaning the book was professionally well-edited. Though I had some complaints, they were insignificant to my rating; hence, I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.
If you have ever considered defending disadvantaged people in society, please read this book; it will motivate you and pick some points on how to do it. Leaders are expected to protect the rights of their citizens, and this book would benefit them, so I encourage them to read it.
