Review of Always Strive to Be a Better You
In this book, Always Strive to Be a Better You: How ordinary people can live extraordinary lives, Pete Hall will guide us to live our lives better. This book answers the question, which was asked by Plato more than 2000 years ago, how do we live a happy, virtuous, good life? Pete will guide us to discover our own happy, virtuous, good life using what he is referring to as the 13 “Key Learnings” of living a happy, virtuous, good life. These thirteen key learnings will help us to: understand ourselves better, find our goals in life, strive for those goals, and give our all at every moment while in pursuit of said goals. Pete provides us with a real example from seven subjects, whom he refers to as extraordinarily ordinary individuals, on how to apply all thirteen key learnings in our lives.
This book is engaging. It uncovers many interesting things in life that we may or may not already have been doing but don’t know that it has so much impact on our lives. This book is well written. While reading, when I found myself tired, it just happened to be right at the pause and break section so I could just stop there. It has a lot of guiding questions at the end of each key learning which helps us understand it better. It also helps us to apply those key learnings to our lives. I enjoy reading this book. I also gained a lot of useful lessons. Another thing about this book is that I do not find any typos or grammatical errors. It was well-edited.
A minor flaw that I find while reading this book is that the page with a table will display across more than one page (if you read it in epub format). The table and the contents of the next page are obstructing each other, making it hard to read.
I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I highly recommend this book. I think everyone, except kids obviously, should read this book at least once in their lives. It will change your perspective on life and you will find a much clearer path to walk on.
This book is better suited for people who have joined the working society. People who are tired of their 9-5 work. People who find their lives contain only a repetitive boring day. People who want to enjoy their life more while still working on their jobs. This is the right book for you. For fresh graduates who haven’t joined the working society, this book offers life experience of things you should do and avoid doing in your search for jobs.
