We spend a major part of our lives trying to find a good job, work hard, and earn enough to maintain an ideal standard of living for ourselves and our families. This quest continues for a long period until we retire from the job. While the specific age of retirement depends on many factors and may vary from country to country, it is a universally accepted fact that most people are closer to being senior citizens when they leave work. It is of due importance to plan our life in a way that we stay facilitated even after we stop working.

Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer is a book that aims to guide people about a useful way to plan their retirement. The book emphasizes the importance of planning ahead of time. It tells us how the usual age of Americans has increased as compared to that of twenty years ago. This change calls for a good plan to overcome the predicted obstacles at a later age. To tackle this, the author has introduced the concept of Reconfigurement Financial Planning. With the assistance of this scheme, a person may plan his future with maximum financial security and benefits, at any age before retirement. The author has stated that a person should organize his investment and spending strategies from the age of 40. Additionally, with the new average life span of Americans, it is quite obvious that there is a need to have a proper channel of income for longer years.

It is strongly encouraged to find a career that one is interested in and continue working even after he retires. The book provides a step-by-step guide to choosing a second career. The author has also suggested a few websites that help to assess a career according to a person's interests. Using the latest software plays a great role in the production of a good retirement plan. The book explains the essential details regarding social security, pension, mutual funds, future career choices, budgeting, life insurance, medical insurance, and much more, according to the laws and standards of the United States. It is discussed that the life insurance advisor must know the person properly before offering the plan. Get hold of this book to educate yourself about how you can invest your time, energy, and money in a way that facilitates you in the future.

This book is a great source of knowledge for those who want to know and learn keenly about the technical terms associated with retirement plans. It not only gives a background about how certain programs and terms were introduced but also explains how to utilize them wisely. I loved how the author made the book fun to read. It seemed like the author knew that the subject of the book is dry and he tried his best to use humor as much as possible. Moreover, the book is exceptionally well-edited.

There is nothing to dislike about the book. It is an informative book that covers the history and current situation of all retirement-related programs. However, for some people, it might be hard to digest such a large amount of information as the book is fast-paced. Therefore, I rate the book 4 out of 5 stars.

I strongly recommend this book to people who are close to their retirement phase. Especially to U.S. citizens as the book is based on U.S. laws and protocols. It is also recommended for people who are just starting their careers but are not sure about how to choose and invest their money in the most beneficial programs. The readers will be left with great motivation to take the necessary steps at the right time to have a safer and better future.
