A Dream for Peace: An Ambassador's Memoiris a non—fictional novel detailing the life of the author, Dr. Ghoulem Berrah, who lived a very interesting life as a revolutionary, doctor, husband, professor at Yale, special advisor to the president of Côte d’Ivoire, emissary, and ambassador. He narrates his stories about the life he lived in these positions, and we are taken along on his lifelong and noble quest to fight for world peace.

The author gives us a glimpse of post-independent Africa and the struggle for stability in some of it’s countries. He recounts his experience in his position as special advisor to the president of Côte d'Ivoire. He was a devout family man, as made evident in the amount of love he showed for his wife, mentioning her in high regard multiple times in the memoir.

What made me happy were the notes and comments written by friends, family, and acquaintances of Dr. Ghoulem Berrah. A man can talk all day about how much of a good person he was and how great of a life he has lived, but you'll never know how much of an impact they have had until you get an account of it from the people around him. Dr. Ghoulem Berrah's life was in no way easy; he struggled and fought at almost every stage of his life, but he still managed to be a good man, and that is something I think is truly remarkable and inspirational.

I am giving this book a rating of five out of five stars. Going into it, the length can be a bit discouraging, but once I got past that, there wasn't a single thing I didn't like about this book; it was beautifully written, easy to read, and easy to understand. The little illustrations and pictures littered all over the book were the icing on the proverbial cake, and they made for a unique reading experience. Packed full of phrases with deep meanings and life lessons to be learned on every page, it was an excellent read.

I did not encounter any errors while reading this book, and it seems professionally edited. I would recommend this book to people interested in history and politics, especially African history and politics, and lovers of inspirational and heartwarming books. I would not however recommend this book to anyone under fifteen due to the nature of some of the themes that were discussed in this book.
