Individual Influence by Brian Smith PhD and Mary Griffin is a great book that I will reread a couple times to help make personal improvements within myself. I will also go back and reference different sections specifically over time.

This book discusses how each individual can make any work environment complete. With each having different ideas and working together with other teammates to reach the final goals. This book helps to remind yourself that your ideas are just as important as anyone else and by working together there can be great opportunities. It can help anyone rethink the old saying “there is no I in team”, but each person has different ideas and talents that make a team come together. It has great information on areas that you can improve in yourself and positively influence changes within your team members to improve the work environment. Positive changes within yourself will have positive impacts in all areas of your life.

I like that the authors use personal experiences to help connect with the reader. It allows you to see where your life experiences can be used to improve your ability to work within a team and as an individual. The authors give examples of their life experiences, both good and bad. They show how their experiences have helped their advantages or opportunities in business.

I like that throughout the book there are “key takeaways” on each topic discussed. It makes it nice if you keep your book for quick references later to go back to that spot in the book. It is well organized with many different topics and examples to help you relate to the authors and look into your own life and see where improvements can be started.

I don’t feel this book has any negative aspects because the authors put together many positive points as to why we need different individual perspectives to come together to work as a team and build relationships and businesses.

I give this book four out of five stars because it is a positive book to remind you that it is important to work together as a team with everyone having their own individualized ideas. It is well organized and outline so you can come back and reference it later.

I recommend this book to professionals looking to improve themselves and their ability to work within a team or management position. This book discusses many different areas that can help with your individual relationships with team members, people you manage or supervise, or any personal relationship.
