Purpose is a book about finding your passion and building a community around that passion. Gina Bianchini explains a helpful step-by-step guide to understanding what your passion is and guides you through the process of making it your primary focus.

I really like how Gina Bianchini brings you into her community-driven world and how she opens up about her life experiences that led her to finding this career. Her first venture was in "no-code" software which was way before this has become a popular trend. Gina Bianchini has amazing experience in the community space with Ning and Mighty respectively. She really understands the psychology of group interactions and how that influences people's behaviour. The book is full of real-life examples and practical steps to achieve the objectives set out. It provides lots of success stories from people she has collaborated with.

I feel like Purpose should be split into two books. One about finding your individual passion and the other about building a community. The book is a bit of a sell at times for her business and mainly presents the successes at each stage in the process. I would have liked to see a more balanced account of what it's like operating in this space. It is clear that Gina Bianchini is wholeheartedly against social media, solely focusing on the negative aspects of it. Comparing her platform for communities to other social media platforms without looking at the positives as well. Some areas of the book feel like padding which could have been more concise and less wordy.

I rate this book 3 out of 5 stars. I really enjoyed reading about Gina Bianchini's journey and how members of the communities she's been involved in found their Purpose. However I felt the book didn't offer a fair comparison with other social media platforms. There wasn't a balanced view of the benefits and drawbacks of each community building platform in my opinion.

I would recommend this book to people at the start of their journey building a community. People who want to become a host of the community and want to understand what online platforms are available to create communities. The first few chapters would be helpful to readers who aren't sure about what their passion is and want to pursue a passion. If you like film references and hearing about how community success in the modern era then this book is for you.
