A Dream for Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is a memoir that chronicles his life from childhood to becoming a scientist and a distinguished diplomat. The book covers the political upheaval of Algeria and other African countries' battle for independence, his participation in the Algerian independence movement, his academic and diplomatic career, and his promotion of religious tolerance.

The selflessness of Dr. Berrah is one of the positive aspects of the book. He campaigned tirelessly for Algeria's independence and mediated peace between countries in conflict, such as Israel and Palestine. He also promoted religious tolerance and married a Christian despite tremendous opposition from his family as he was a Muslim. Dr. Berrah's concern for others was evident not only in his personal life but also in his political life. From organizing student protests to brokering peace at the highest political level, he held firm in his beliefs.

The book's language is straightforward, making it an easy read despite its length. The pictures scattered throughout the book give a visual depiction of the characters in the story, making it more relatable. The fact that the stories in the book were based on records obtained by his wife demonstrated their authenticity. Furthermore, the book's focus on Africa's struggle for independence, and geopolitical topics like the Israeli-Palestinian conflict brought to life, added depth to the historical events.

There are no negative aspects to the book. Despite its length, the book is captivating, and Dr. Berrah's perseverance and compassion shine through, making him a fascinating figure. The stories in the book offer a unique perspective into living in Africa in the twentieth century, making it an informative and enjoyable read.

In conclusion, A Dream for Peace is an excellent book that offers a unique perspective on African history and politics. Dr. Ghoulem Berrah's life and accomplishments are truly inspiring, and his perseverance and compassion shine through in the book. The book is well-written, accurate, and engaging, making it a great read for anyone interested in African history and politics.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars for its informative and captivating account of African history and Dr. Berrah's fascinating life. The book is well-edited, with no errors or typos, making it a reliable source of information. I recommend this book to anyone interested in African history, geopolitics, and issues related to colonialism. It is a must-read for anyone who wants to understand the struggles faced by African countries in their fight for independence and the role of diplomacy in conflict resolution.
