Review of A Dream For Peace
Each page of A Dream For Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah brought to life the story of a man who was unafraid to stand up against oppression and racism, no matter the cost. The book highlights Berrah's passion for education, which was evident from a young age. Despite facing racism and discrimination, Berrah remained focused on his studies, which eventually led him to the University of Bordeaux. It was at the university that he became fully aware of the uprisings and revolutions happening in his motherland and in Africa as a whole. This realization led him to become an activist, fighting against oppression and advocating for peace.
Berrah's mother played a significant role in shaping his life. Despite losing his father at a young age, she provided him with all the love he needed. The book also touches on the impact of socio-political events on Berrah's life, with the author recounting his experiences during the African independence movement, the Algerian War, and the political turmoil in Congo. Berrah also visited religious sites from Mecca to the Vatican and served as an ambassador for peace negotiations between Israel and Palestine.
The emotional depth and range of the author's experiences, which take me on a rollercoaster of emotions and keep them engaged, are what I like most about this memoir. One of the fascinating aspects of the memoir is Berrah's relationship with his mother. Their bond was so deep that it was almost clairvoyant at times. I was especially moved by Berrah's pain and heartbreak when he learned of his mother's terminal illness, and I was inspired by his determination to make her proud. I was also impressed by Berrah's courage and conviction in standing up for himself and his beliefs. The incident at the award ceremony was a prime example of his bravery in the face of racism. It was a bold move that could have had serious consequences, but he refused to be silenced.
I am thoroughly impressed by this memoir, finding it appealing in every aspect and having no criticisms or dislikes to note. A Dream For Peace is an exceptionally well-edited memoir; no errors were found in it while reading it.
I highly recommend this memoir to readers who love memoirs and want to learn about an iconic personality in Africa's history. With all the outstanding qualities of this memoir, ranging from its inspirational message to its rich historical content and excellent editing quality, I give it a rating of 5 out of 5 stars.
