Review of Snatched Up to Heaven!
Snatched Up to Heaven! by Jemima Paul and Arvind Paul offers a fascinating insight into the afterlife as seen through the eyes of two young sisters. The inclusion of pictures drawn by the girls of heaven and hell adds an innocent touch of authenticity to their accounts.
I particularly enjoyed the alternating storyline between the children's visions and the mother's interpretations. Relevant Bible verses connected the narrations to our Scriptures. This made the book feel authentic and helped me better understand the Christian concepts and beliefs being explored. I also appreciated the inclusion of pictures drawn by the girls, which added an innocent and heartfelt touch to their accounts.
The book did an excellent job of exploring the importance of faith and repentance. The girls' experiences in heaven and their descriptions of the punishment in hell were vividly portrayed, providing a detailed understanding of the consequences of sin.
Furthermore, as someone who grew up in South India, particularly in Chennai, I found an additional connection to the book. The fact that the authors are from the same city and mentioned places that I am familiar with made the reading experience even more enjoyable and personal. This aspect of the book made it feel like a shared experience and added an extra layer of authenticity to the narrative.
However, there were an excessive number of grammatical errors and typos. I was constantly reading sentences multiple times to check if I had incorrectly read them, which impacted my enjoyment. Additionally, some parts of the book that describe the punishments in hell may be too graphic for some readers and may be unsuitable for children. Despite this, the book's overarching theme of the importance of faith and repentance is powerful, and the mother's love and care for her children shine through.
I recommend this book to those interested in exploring Christian beliefs and the afterlife. I was fascinated by the intellectual interpretations of the stories the kids shared, despite being Hindu. I was also heartened to read about the actions the parents took after listening to their kids' tales and how they are actively working to help society.
The book could serve as a useful tool for parents and educators to teach children about Christian beliefs. The book's insights and perspectives were valuable and thought-provoking. I give this book a solid 3 out of 5 stars and would encourage readers to look past the technical issues and focus on the content and insights presented by the authors.
