Dr. Ghoulem Berrah lived a good life. a well-fulfilled one, and although I wasn't privileged enough to know him, this book, A Dream for Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah, gave me not just an insight but a full account of his life and testimonies.

Born in Morocco to a Muslim family, the author gave accounts of his childhood, talking about the precolonial era and the French influence on his country. He would be privileged enough to study in Bordeaux, and while in college, the author would experience multiple acts of racism. This racism in France is what fueled his passion for activism. The author had a lot of cameos in some notable events across history; this would include the hypothesis that sets up the discovery of an enzyme, a visit to Mecca, a visit to Rome, a visit to the White House, and so on. He also got involved in peace talks during the Israel-Palestine conflicts, and he was once the special advisor to the president of the Ivory Coast. The author also shared his experience with love as he got married to three different women.

There were so many things to enjoy about this book. Memoirs are typically boring to me, but this one was quite different. The author spared no effort to hide his outstanding sense of humor while he wrote this book. I enjoyed this book a lot because I was able to learn about history in Morocco; it improved my knowledge of the precolonial era of the country. Another thing I liked about this book was the fact that the author included photos, which saved me from having to use my imagination and gave me a better understanding of the events he wrote about. My favorite part of the book was when he visited Rome and met Papa John. It was quite emotional for me because I understand the diversity in the religious backgrounds of both men.

There was only one thing I disliked about this book. I didn't like the fact that the author painted his childhood as somewhat perfect, with no flaws. His relationship with his mother was also quite unique; it was as if she loved him alone, and neglected all her other children.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. This book deserves a full rating, and my dislikes about this book are definitely not enough to alter my rating. I found no errors in this book; it has been perfectly edited. I recommend this book to people who enjoy reading biographies, memoirs, or history.
