Review of A Dream For Peace
A Dream For Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is a very captivating and interesting memoir of the author and his fight to restore peace and tranquility to his native Algeria. We all know freedom fighters like Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, and many other strong men who fought for their country to the very end. This book also talks about one of these great men. Dr. Ghoulem Berrah and the other great men I mentioned above are men who went the extra mile to achieve what they wanted for their nation.
Dr. Ghoulem is the author of this book. He hails from a small city in Algeria. He was one of those men born into a polygamous home. Back then, his hometown faced some security challenges that were like a thorn in their flesh. He had a mother who was both a strong disciplinarian and a loving mother. His mother always wanted her son to get the best quality education possible at that time. She wanted her son to attain greater heights in life. Algeria, at that time, was a French colony, making the study of French compulsory in their educational sector. During young Dr. Ghoulem's graduation ceremony, some things didn't go right, which led to a strong anti-colonial protest. The author was given a scholarship to study at any university he wanted, but that didn't make him relent in fighting for his nation's liberation. There was a time he even got arrested because he was considered a threat. This book is really interesting.
I enjoyed this book so much. Dr. Ghoulem Berrah was very brave, and I really admire his bravery. Although he went through many difficulties and persecutions, it paid off. He became a very successful leader. He also had the opportunity to meet other world-class notable leaders like him. The author was the first scientist to discover a hypothesis that was later identified by the reverse transcriptase enzyme. On the level of family, Dr. Ghoulem Berrah got married, had kids, and was a fulfilled man in the family aspect. This book has really taught me that hard work and sacrifice really pay off in the end.
I actually didn't dislike anything major about this book. I just found the abbreviations very complex and hard for me to comprehend. This use of abbreviations also slowed down my reading pace. This was the only problem I had.
I would gladly like to give this book 5 out of 5 stars. The writing style was top-notch. The book had no errors at all, and I enjoyed its editing. The author really delivered a great read.
Finally, I would like to recommend this book to lovers of stories of people fighting for freedom. Lovers of peace and memoirs will also enjoy this book.
