Review of Reconfigurement
There is nothing more stressful than growing old with retirement knocking at your door only to realize you have no savings or retirement plans available to carry you through the coming years. Everybody wishes to go into retirement happy and financially stable, sadly, according to recent statistics, only 25 percent of the working population do plan ahead for their retirement. Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer is a self-help non-fiction book that addresses critical issues such as medical insurance, retirement planning and financial management. E. Alan Fleischauer outlines the importance of sound retirement plans and the need for one to enjoy their working life. The author’s story is one relevant to the current generation due to changing economic trends. At the onset of this book, E. Alan Fleischauer narrates how he came to realize that his old age might be in jeopardy when he succumbed to a mild stroke. Luckily, he is resuscitated and from then, his whole life trajectory shifts to retirement planning. There are valuable lessons and fiscal management policies highlighted in this book that are of great significance to every reader.
What I liked most about this book is the author's writing style and material expertise. Being a guide book on financial management I expected the diction used to be easily understandable to persons familiar with financial accounting, but to my utter surprise, the author incorporates a diction easily understandable to a layman with zero experience on financial practices. The author’s chronological manner of speaking about core themes was also a positive aspect of this book. The use of jokes and puns to break the monotony of narration and to bring about humour made this novel enjoyable to read.
A negative aspect of this book is that it’s discriminatory to readers not residing in America. The models and financial systems listed and discussed only apply to the United States. Non-American readers may find it boring as they are unable to relate and draw inferences that they can apply to their present situations. I felt that the reader should have indicated in his blurb the target audience of this book. Another negative aspect of this book is its length. I felt that more pages would have done no harm to the plot.
Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer is a great book rich in sound financial advices helpful to anyone keen on managing their finances. After reading this book I realized that to adequately plan for my future, I should reconfigure my current life trajectory and incorporate the lessons learnt from this story. The author’s writing style and mastery of content make this book a remarkable work of art. There are numerous positives aspects about this book but the few negative aspects slightly impact on my rating. Therefore, I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.
I highly recommend this book to an adult audience and to readers interested in financial accounting. Since the core theme of this book is retirement planning, readers interested in developing sound retirement plans are the best audience for this novel.
