Review of A Dream For Peace
This book is an amazing memoir about the political and personal life of an international diplomat by the name of Dr. Ghoulem Berrah. This book centers on the early childhood of the author in 1932 and his rise in politics and the medical world. This book also talked about the Algerian War.
The author started with a brief introduction of his father and mother and subsequently talked about his extended family, from his father's many previous wives to his twelve uncles. He later got into the Moroccan Liberation Army, an experience he described as hardship. He later became a diplomat for Cote d'Ivoire; he also embarked on Spain, where he was arrested. This book encompasses various journeys in different parts of the world, but which journey is going to get him a life-satisfying mark? Read a copy to find out.
I am not a memoir reader; I hate memoirs, but I picked this one anyway, and I must say the author didn't make me regret it. What I loved about this book was the way the author narrated it; it was easily understandable, and he also made sure to add photos of places and people to make his readers more enlightened. Another thing I liked was the author's character; despite the French erasing Algerian history, he still stood up with a few others to fight for his country and become an activist. The story I liked the most about this book was the hardship the author faced in Morocco. I believe it was one of the little stepping stones the author took for greater success.
I had one dislike, and it was the fact that the author didn't detail the arrest in Spain; it was just so brief that I couldn't get the whole picture of what happened. Apart from this minor dislike, the rest of the book was intriguing and understandable. I would like to thank the author for such a wonderful memoir. The prestidigitation of the concurrent and subsequent stories about which the book was written was well detailed.
I will rate A Dream for Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah 5 out of 5 stars. I couldn't get myself to believe this book was worth any less; the narrative was understandable, the plot was flowing, and the editorial aspect was unique. This book was exceptionally well edited.
I suggest this book to people who love history and politics. For people who love reading memoirs, this will be a great read.
