Review of Findin9 H2OM3
Findin9 H2OM3 by Jameson B Grant is a book that follows the author through his life up to the present day. You read about the many triumphs and tumbles that made the young boy raised by a strong single mother into the man he has become today. The author of this piece has lived many lives and seen more than most do in their whole life by working a vast and variable list of jobs. In addition, he has met or encountered countless famous Hollywood faces and tells the reader about his actual experience with them all. The story reveals the author’s thoughts on life, love, God, humanity, and “Can’t Buy Me Love” star Amanda Peterson. It is also accompanied by pictures of the author that correspond to the life experiences described in this book. The narrative ebbs and flows in the way only a real person’s life could, without a predetermined beginning, middle, or so-called happy end. As the reader, just like when the author lived it, you never know what’s coming next.
The aspect of this book I appreciated the most was the honesty with which the author wrote his thoughts, feelings, and experiences. It is refreshing to hear such unabashed opinions on everything from politics to the philosophy of working as an escort. I also enjoyed reading about the author’s family life at the story's beginning. Firstly, it was a great introduction to who the author is and explains his viewpoint and choices later on in life and, in correlation, later in the story.
With that said, in order to properly appreciate this book, I needed a greater level of clarification and organization within the book itself. It reads as a stream of consciousness, with a lot of jumping around and random excerpts of factual information about a place or object the author referenced earlier in the story. While I can appreciate that the book is meant to be a “modern-day mixtape” more than a linear story, I still found myself, as the reader, very lost through most of the book, especially towards the end.
My rating for this book is 1 out of 5 stars. As explained above, the book could be more organized and clearer to the average reader. In addition to this, there were multiple spelling and grammatical errors that impeded my enjoyment of the book.
I would recommend this book to anyone that likes to solve riddles, as it seems as if the author is weaving an intricate web throughout the story that is meant to be solved at the end. On the other hand, I would not recommend this book to a reader that likes to have a succinct story with a clear direction, as this book is written in a unique way.
