This book, as titled, is about unleashing The Inner CEO. What this means is that at each level of organizations, employees should be enabled and encouraged to be in charge and take ownership of their role within the organization. The book goes through various means to accomplish this at each level, and contains interviews with others that have harnessed this concept within their organization.

The interviews with leaders who have adopted this mindset proved helpful. I liked that they gave their own take on what unleashing the inner ceo meant for them and their organization. I also really liked the five-point validation star assessment discussed in chapter 5.

Conversely, I felt that the book was dragging on and that some sections repeated prior sections of the book. It sometimes felt like there was a minimum page requirement they were trying to meet, so they repeated points. Sometimes repeating a point is a good way to drive it home, but this didn't seem to be the case with this book.

Overall, I would give this book a 3 out of 5 stars. It was easy to read and comprehend. When reading and proofreading, keep in mind that the author is based in the UK, so often times words that in the US would utilize a Z, in the UK an S would be utilized.

I would recommend this book to someone in a leadership position who wanted to supercharge, empower, and motivate those who report to them. I initially thought, given the title, that it would help someone unleash the CEO within themselves, but found it focusing on the CEO within others within the organization, specifically those below the person this book is aimed at.
