Review of A Dream For Peace
Some books give their readers hope, inspiration, and light. A good example of such a book is A Dream for Peace. As depicted in this inspiring and creatively written book, Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is also among the authors who write such books. Dr. Ghoulem Berrah's accomplishments, compassion for his fellow brethren, and political journey are all detailed in this book. He describes his birthplace briefly in the first few pages.
He claims to have been born into a humble but strong and proud family, and that his ancestors' mausoleum is located high in the mountains of Chechar, where the first shots of the Algerian Revolution were fired. The first chapter of this book is titled "Birth to University." In this chapter, the author, Dr. Ghoulem Berrah, not only discusses how the university came to be, but also provides a detailed account of life in pre-colonial Algeria and his family background. According to his vivid descriptions, life was perfect in the pre-colonial period, and people lived in harmony and love.
After reading this book, I believe it took a long time to write and publish. I said this because it was exceptionally well written and had no errors. I had to pause several times while reading this book to try to figure out some events and places in the story, which were masterfully described. Furthermore, I can also say that the author intended for this book to be a source of inspiration for anyone who reads it. This is because he used simple language that any reader could understand.
The story was inspiring and covered a variety of topics. The first chapter of this book, for example, included themes such as family, death, education, colonialism, politics, religion, and marriage, among many others. The author spiced up the story by including images. Some images in the book include the school of native Algerian children and the Qur'anic school. The book is approximately 634 pages long and divided into seventeen chapters. The number of characters in this story did not bother me. They were numerous, but I appreciated how they were introduced and described.
Reading memoirs can be tedious at times, but this one was different. There were incredible events in each chapter that made me enjoy reading this book. In my opinion, Dr. Berrah's story represents the stories of many leaders around the world who have risen from humble beginnings and positively impacted the lives of many. I enjoyed the flow of the story. Each chapter begins with a one-paragraph note. These notes also clarified some aspects of the story.
I couldn't deny this book a perfect score. I gave it 5 out of 5 stars after a thorough reading and analysis of various aspects. Nothing in this book bothered me. The book was extremely well-edited. There were no mistakes in the entire book. The cover was also aesthetically appealing. The inspiring aspect of the book was what I loved the most. Furthermore, the book's inspiring content contributed to its rating. Because political themes appear to dominate this book, I would recommend it to readers who want to read inspiring stories with political themes. Those who enjoy pan-Africanist stories will enjoy this memoir as well.
