In a note to the pen name used by the author, an explanation of the invented word “amphidromus” is given as a quiet place in the sea where there is no tide. A political-economic structure must provide for liberty as well as distributive justice to be financially sustainable. There is no system in the world today that adheres to these criteria. The author starts to unveil the reasons why the world of democracy is not doing financial justice to all. Amphidromus leads the reader to understand the concept of money. He asks the reader to approach this book with an open mind to be able to understand the nature of patterns in our existence. The difference between natural order and true order is key to avoiding tyranny. The picture painted of how life would be if money were truly understood correctly is every citizen’s dream and sounds too good to be true. By explaining the creation of the universe, the author brings a new concept of the value and purpose of money. The whole explanation must be read to be able to understand it. In no uncertain way, the author exposes fundamentalists as being blind to anything but that which they believe. He sees fundamentalists as harmful and a crime against humanity. A politician gains power at the cost of another, whereas wealth does not have to come at the cost of another. The power and purpose of politics are exposed.

What I liked about Why does the Government need to be Funded?, was how it opened my eyes to see differently. As you read this book, you recognize situations in your world and only now understand the motives and powers behind them. Amphidromus is adamant, though, that researchers should always be honest about all the facts they discover and not only reveal what they believe in. It brings a new perspective as the author takes you through the history of the development of the economy, indicating the complications of each form as implemented by the government of the time. The continuous struggle between capitalism and socialism and where to find the balance is investigated, but this is only a fragment of the problem situation. One must read the book to appreciate the depth of the research done.

There is no foul language in this book and the editing was done excellently. What one could regard as a negative aspect is the fact that it sometimes becomes very complicated in its reasoning and explanation of concepts, but once the reader gets to understand the argument, the picture becomes clear.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars because of the good explanations given to difficult concepts and the way it gives a new angle to what exists in the world.

I recommend this book to all those in power, all politicians (in the hope that they learn from it), and all who are interested in economics. People who see the shortcomings in the way we are governed will also find it very interesting to learn that the author has a real, workable solution to our imperfect system.
