Review of Surviving the Business of Healthcare
The primary purpose of the healthcare system is saving lives, but it seems the present administrations are changing things. Surviving the Business of Healthcare by Barbara Galutia Regis, PA-C, is a book that tells a story about the author, her life, her family, and her work. Barbara is a healthcare provider, and she is someone who believes Medicine is her calling. She takes us through her journey as a practitioner. We learn how things are different from how they were in the past. Sadly, she also has cancer (squamous cell carcinoma), and we get to read how she lives with this disease.
The author mentions essential details in her journeys, such as her workplace and oncologist. She tells us how she grew up in a home used for healthcare and how things were better in the past. She uses this to speak about how healthcare has become more of a business aimed at making more money than saving lives. This book also aids and advises individuals on making the right healthcare decisions.
Surviving the Business of Healthcare consists of 29 chapters and about 100 pages. This book, which can serve as a healthcare handbook, is an accurate guide through modern healthcare. It is properly written and formatted, and the chapters are precise in delivering vital information. I like the author’s simplicity and honesty. As a medical student, I can easily relate to the changes she describes. Her story is touching, especially with cancer. She did not make the book about her cancer. She stuck to her objective for writing this book.
There is nothing I dislike about this book. Barbara Galutia put together a helpful handbook for individuals unaware of the healthcare setup. I have learned numerous things from this book, and sadly, the healthcare system does not care about saving lives as the primary thing. Making money is more of the goal in the present healthcare system. There would be benefits if more caring, loving, and passionate people joined the system. Surviving the Business of Healthcare is exceptionally edited. There were no grammatical, typographical, or punctuation errors in this book.
I rate this book, Surviving the Business of Healthcare, five out of five stars. The information in this book is accurate and would help citizens who cannot afford expensive treatments. The concise nature of this book is another thing that draws me to this book. I recommend this book to medical students, health practitioners, and individuals eligible for elderly care.
