Review of A Dream For Peace
Change is something constant in humanity; we can only hope that it’s positive. This fantastic memoir, A Dream for Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah, in which the author brings readers to understand his life’s journey and the various challenges he faced before things got better, is quite remarkable. There’s a lot to learn and be inspired by when you read through the lines of this piece. A man who didn’t just try to bring change to his community or country, but to the world at large.
Dr. Ghoulem Berrah didn’t go through life like every other ordinary person. Having been born into colonialism, he had to keep his head up. His education started in Algeria, where he was born; then he got a scholarship to further his education at any university of his choice, which he chose France for; and then he ended up in prison fighting against colonizers, got out, and then got a further education in the United States.
Page after page, it was a new journey for the author. I was marveled by how he managed to get through it all, even when things looked too complicated. Wanna find out if he eventually attained his goal? Go get your copy now.
I liked every single aspect of this book. The strive for success, the passion for humanity, the competence of a young man, and likewise the determination. The author did magnificent work to make it as realistic as it is. He described real-life occurrences and issues facing society and, likewise, proffered solutions. He helped us understand his childhood, having been born into a polygamous home with a strict mother who’s very disciplined and has a high interest in her child’s education. And at a mature age, the Muslim man married a Christian woman, bringing two different people together. That alone helped him conquer various tribal conflicts. And when he attained high educational status, he was brought into the presence of high-level world leaders.
My only dislike of this book was the excessive use of abbreviations. It would have been hard to understand some of them if I wasn’t familiar enough with abbreviations. Apart from that, I absolutely enjoyed reading this book.
With all my remarks on this book, I’d rate A Dream for Peace 5 out of 5 stars. Regardless of the minor complaint made earlier, the author did exceptionally well bringing the societal issue into a memoir and left no stone unturned. Aside from that, his writing style was good, and the book was well edited.
Personally, I think this book should attract the interest of the general audience. But to be more specific, to all the freedom fighters out there, and likewise, lovers of politics and history, this masterpiece is for you.
