A Dream for peace is an inspiring autobiography about Dr. Ghoulem Berrah's life from early childhood to adulthood. Dr. Berrah was born in a small town in northeastern Algeria during the French colonial period. He narrates about his family life, Islamic religion, culture, and neighborhood. He describes his mother as a strong and intelligent woman who could raise them alone after his father died while he was young. He also talks about the values his mother instilled in him. Dr. Berrah was a bright student who excelled in school and was offered a scholarship to study medicine in France.

While in France, he became a political activist in bringing independence to his country, and the government closely watched him. Due to increased tension, he and his wife Antoinette escaped to Spain but were caught and arrested, and later released. He went to Morocco, where he worked as a doctor in Missouri and joined the Morrocan liberation Army to liberate Algeria. Not only was Dr. Berrah a political activist, but he was also the first scientist to give a hypothesis on Reverse Transcriptase enzyme, a teacher at Yale University, spokesperson, special advisor to Cote d'Ivoire President Houphouet, and an advocate for peace. He engaged in dialogue conversations to bring peace to Israel and Palestine and Israel and Arab countries. And on top of that, he was a religious and family guy.

Dr. Berrah's life story inspires many, including future generations. In this book, we see how African countries struggled to gain independence; many people died in the process. However, I loved the author's resilience and perseverance; he faced many challenges, including racial discrimination and being arrested, but that did not prevent him from achieving what he wanted. Another lesson from Berrah's life story is that it does not matter where you are from; your dreams are still valid. We see him as a poor boy from a humble background with big dreams, hard work, and determination. He accomplishes many things and becomes a rich man who shakes hands with the most influential people in his country and globally.

I loved how the author described African cultures, traditional foods, and weddings. I loved that he used actual photos of himself with influential personalities; this added to the authenticity of the stories. My highlight of the story is when he found himself in Taounate, taking the role of a fish veterinarian. In addition, the book was well written with a magical flow, and the language used was simple and easy to understand. I found the book very fascinating.

I disliked nothing about this book; even though it is long, it is worth reading. It has valuable lessons and insights. I did not find any grammatical errors; therefore, the book was exceptionally edited.

I will give this book 4 out 4 stars for its excellent editing and remarkable writing style. In addition, the book is informative and educational. It is also an inspiration to many. I am glad to rate this book 5 out 5 stars

I recommend this book to the audience who like to read about African history, the pre-colonial period, and those who love exciting and inspiring stories.
