Review of A Dream For Peace
While we all face obstacles in life, overcoming them makes us stronger. A Dream For Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is a memoir where he shares his life experiences. He tells his life story in this heartwarming memoir. We learn about the obstacles he overcame to be where he is today. He gives us his version of his journey to the top.
The first big challenge he had was when his father passed away. He was five years old and the youngest of his mother's six children. She prioritized his education and cared for him. She taught him about the Islamic religion, ensuring he learned about their culture. Born in Algeria during French colonial rule, he suffered racism in school. Pained by the suffering of his people, he became an activist and fought against French oppression. He went to prison but later got out. He would go on to study medicine in America. He became a diplomat and always did what was best for Africa.
The author had to work hard to be successful. He was always determined and persevered in all he did. I admired his relationship with his mother. She adored him and wanted the best for him. She always gave him sound advice and taught him the basic principles of life. I was surprised at how close his family was. The extended family all looked out for one another. They remained loyal to their core family values despite the French trying to enforce theirs. I learned the importance of teaching children moral values and good habits, as it is one of the vital steps in ensuring their success. I admired his love and devotion to his wife; they went on thrilling adventures together, thus strengthening their love. I liked how the author stood up for himself while undergoing racial abuse. We are all humans, and we are all equal. Sadly, people think that the color of one's skin determines how they should treat them. There should be severe consequences for racism.
The book was well written and easy to understand. I found no flaws in the book. The author told his life story most intriguingly. I can only imagine what other challenges he might have faced that are not in the book. He is a true inspiration to his fellow Africans.
I found no errors in the book, indicating it was exceptionally well-edited. I happily give this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend it to those who love colonial stories. I also recommend it to historians and political leaders.
