Review of A Dream For Peace
Dr. Ghoulem Berrah shares his life journey in the memoir A Dream for Peace. This 644-page book contains details of his early childhood experiences and his journey toward his country's freedom. Dr. Ghoulem Berrah talks about his family life, religion, politics, and science in this book.
The only child raised by a loving mother, Dr. Berrah found interest in politics during his childhood. Freeing Algeria and other African nations from colonial rule was his sole purpose. He describes his experiences fighting for his country. Dr. Berrah became a doctor after studying in the United States of America. His love for his country is undeniable, as this is shown vividly by his actions. Does Algeria get freedom from colonial masters? Grab the book to know.
I enjoyed the author's openness in the book. He shares his thoughts and feelings concerning several life issues. The author also talks about his obstacles as a political activist and freedom fighter. I admire his courage, determination, and perseverance to withstand all the obstacles hindering the freedom of his people. He indeed fought for what he believed. The author did not only flourish in his political affairs but also in the medical field, as he is known as the first scientist to develop a theory for reverse transcriptase enzymes. He also became the special adviser to the late president of Côte d'Ivoire. His achievements are numerous and amusing. He included pictures to justify the information in the book.
I loved reading about the author's bravery, sacrifice, and love for his people. I learned from the book that I can achieve my dreams just as he realized his. The author's way of life teaches this lesson.
The author credits his mother for his success and also includes a tribute to his loving wife in the book. The book's writing style is simple and easy to understand. I found nothing appealing in this book. After reading the book, I now know about African history during colonial rule and Algerian culture.
Additionally, due to this book's professional editing, I found no grammatical or typographical errors in the book. Therefore, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. There are lots of valuable lessons one can get from reading this book. It is interesting. Nothing in this book left a distaste in my mouth, so I can say there was nothing I disliked.
I recommend this book to anyone who loves to read non-fiction novels or politics. Anyone who wants to learn about African history can also grab this book.
