Review of Surviving the Business of Healthcare
Barbra Galutia wrote this book to share her experience, advocate for others to get accurate information, and save money and time. Barbra is a dedicated physician with over 20 years of medical knowledge and experience. She's a former music teacher, wife, and primary care physician specializing in preventive medicine. Her parents ran a medical practice in Coopersburg, Pennsylvania, where she grew up. She knew this was her calling after three generations of physicians in her family. Barbra gets diagnosed with amelanotic modular melanoma, a rare form of skin cancer. She goes through surgery, recovers, launches her show, and continues working in her practice.
Surviving the Business of Healthcare is a self-help book that covers a wide range of health-care-related topics. You will learn about the evolution of healthcare, careers, and how to protect the elderly when purchasing prescription and over-the-counter medications. Barbra Galuta explains and discusses various insurance types based on tier, cost, and accessibility. To avoid paying high rates, she suggests purchasing catastrophic insurance. She encourages patients to ask questions, express concerns, and conduct their own research. She also discusses how doctors will go to great lengths to meet the needs of their patients, such as prescribing unnecessary medication that will cause the patients' deaths or a doctor being sued. She provides a list of the worst and best states in which to practice medicine with the least malpractice.
I admire the author's knowledge and confidence; she understands the history of insurance and the ever-changing dynamic of medicine. The author suggests money-saving strategies such as rebates, catastrophic plans, and eliminating billing practices. This book includes a table to help readers understand the financial side of the healthcare industry.
This book is both informative and useful. I believe it will help many people who are unsure about their insurance options. I found nothing I didn't like or approve of. I was hoping she would look into social security as another option for the working class and retirees.
This book is easy to read. The language and writing styles are clear and easy to understand. There were no errors in grammar, spelling, or typos. The book has been professionally edited. I will rate it 4 out of 4 stars.
I would recommend this book to adults from all backgrounds, wealthy or destitute, who are trying to figure out how to navigate the healthcare system. This book will provide you with a number of options on how and where to look for the best health care insurance based on your specific requirements.
