A Dream For Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is a heartwarming memoir that focuses on his life, his struggles and difficulties, and how he overcame said difficulties to be who he is today. Born in Algeria during French colonial rule, he was the last of six children from his mother's side.

His father passed away when he was five, and it was up to his mother to train him. While in class, he always felt the system made them learn more of the French heritage and less of the Algerian one. He suffered racial abuse in school by his classmates. The experiences fueled his desire for activism. He suffered for his activism and anti-colonial nature as he got imprisoned for a while. He'd go on to study medicine. He also became a political diplomat, and the book narrates some of his diplomatic exploits. He fought for African people with the power he had.

I like that even with all he achieves, he loves his wife dears and puts her first in all situations. The author spearheaded innovations during his youth, and they led to change. He loves his brethren dearly, which shows how caring he is. His love for the community is something to be admired, as he gives back to the community by funding scholarships for those who can't afford them. I liked the cultural weddings he experienced, the adornments, embroidery, stitching, and matching golden belts would have been a sight for sore eyes. I also like the honesty in which the marketmen traded, such type of honesty is rare to find these days, as people protect only their selfish interests forgetting about others. I like the author's bravery and strength to be able to fight against racism from a very young age. It is disheartening that children have to go through such evil experiences. The memoir is very educative and taught me a lot, like how the Algerians lived; how they arranged marriages to each other for family connection.

I do not have any dislikes about the book. The writing was clear and concise, which made it easy to understand and comprehend. The plot was great, as the storyline flowed well. I happily give this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars.

I found no errors in the book, which shows it was exceptionally well-edited. I recommend this to historians and t our political leaders. They could learn a thing or two from Dr. Berrah.
