Review of Breaking the Mold
Breaking the Mold brings to life the story of the American dream in vivid detail. If you think you might enjoy reading about an entrepreneur who rose from humble beginnings to becoming a multi-millionaire, you will love this book. Author Fabian Videla left Argentina behind to make his dreams come true in the United States. He leveraged his entrepreneurial spirit to achieve success in the remodeling business and through software enterprises. Breaking the Mold encompasses Videla’s upbringing, his early days in the U.S., and the story of how he built his companies. The latter part of the book focuses on great advice for entrepreneurs on different aspects of operating and growing a business.
This is a wonderful and informative book. Success is always inspiring, and Breaking the Mold offers plenty of inspiration. Even better is the fact that Videla shares tips on how to become successful. He seems to have a genuine interest in helping others learn from his lessons. There are plenty of noteworthy gems of advice. It was helpful that each chapter had a short lesson before the chapter. I found this to be a great way to take in key insights before delving into the details. Various topics in the book include how to build your reputation online, how to establish pricing and payment terms, the need to create systems so your business can operate without you, and other useful information.
In addition to reading about the author’s journey to success, I enjoyed the background of his upbringing in Argentina. Videla did a nice job of helping the reader understand the early foundations of his success. His grandmother instilled a strong work ethic into him, and his parents had humble jobs but managed to successfully provide for their family. The author’s supportive family provided a great basis for his future success. I loved the story of how one of his uncles provided free garlic from his farm to Videla as a kid so that he could make money by selling it to local people.
There’s very little I would change about the book. There were some areas where his advice was very specific to those who have a remodeling business. In those areas, he perhaps narrowed his audience. However, most of his advice applied to a broad range of businesses.
I believe readers will find the book to be a worthwhile read. It has an interesting narrative, useful advice, and excellent suggestions about how to become a successful entrepreneur. For those reasons, I rate it 4 out of 4 stars. The book also appears to be professionally edited with minimal errors.
Breaking the Mold is ideal for aspiring entrepreneurs. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to be inspired and informed about how to create a successful business. Those who have remodeling and construction businesses will find the content to be particularly valuable.
