The Warrior's Meditation: The Best-Kept Secret in Self-Improvement, Cognitive Enhancement, and Emotional Regulation, Taught by a Master of Four Samurai Arts, is a book written by Richard L. Haight. The book has four parts and twenty-three chapters. Part one covers the Principles of Meditation, and part two moves on to Natural Meditation Portals. Part three handles Basic TEM Practices, and lastly part four initiates the reader to execute in Daily Life Application. Richard is a proud and dedicated meditator, having practiced meditation for more than 30 years. He explains the scientific research into the health benefits associated with regular meditation. University studies are included with journal articles and personal discoveries. As you continue on your meditation journey, you should notice that dysfunctional thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are beginning to dissolve from your life, to be replaced by a sense of inner peace and fulfillment. The method of the Warrior's meditation is divided into seven competence steps.

I liked the amount of research this book had to offer. It was informative, well-researched, and brilliantly presented. I'm fascinated to learn that meditation can improve your brain by increasing gray matter. Areas of the brain related to positive emotions, emotional regulation, and self-control also exhibit increased brain volume. Meditating can also improve memory, creativity, and abstract thinking. I appreciated that the steps in the book were easy to follow. I could not make a breakthrough into a more in-depth awareness, but I did experience a calm feeling transitioning my beta brain waves to alpha brain waves. The book even includes a video link to the author's demonstration of how to do vagal breathing. Richard is a master instructor of martial arts. I appreciate that he shares his personal experiences and meditation practices. At the end of the book, the author gives a link to a free one-month trial of his meditation class.

Some sections of the book felt highly repetitious. For example, the author said that you will be able to meditate while talking, working, driving, walking, etc. The number of times he said that in the book made me wonder if I was somehow stuck reading the same part over and over. Parts of the Warrior's Meditation felt counterintuitive. For example, you should be aware of your sense of smell, but you shouldn't focus on actually smelling something.

I found a few typos in the book, but it is well edited. I greatly enjoyed reading this well-crafted book. The author's ability to convey this information in a simple manner for beginners to try it too is remarkable. I give this book a perfect four out of four stars.

Readers who have an interest in meditation or who want to learn more about it should read The Warrior's Meditation. Individuals who are looking to improve themselves, gain deeper awareness, and find peace and fulfillment must read this book.

With the help of a few books, I recently began to practise meditation in order to improve my mental health. And now this book will be added to my shelf because it will aid in my meditation practise. The book's repetitive lines will let me down. In any case, your review is fair.

Meditations and self-help is not my cup of tea. This has been discussed by so many different people, we just don't know what to believe anymore. Great review though, thank you.

Mediation is something I've been meaning to try, and it would be interesting to read the research the author goes into. Repetitions in a book can be off-putting though it can be understood how that's something the author wants to keep in the forefront of the reader.

Thanks ilze for the review. I have always been intrigued by meditation and the hype behind it. This review has convinced me to find out and I'll start with Robert's book.

With life throwing sharpest swords at us at times, it really important to learn how to control our emotions and feelings. The book seems to be a great help with self-control, emotional regulations. It was nice going through your review.
