Review of A Dream For Peace
Freedom fighting, career, family life, romance, and so much more are all incorporated in A Dream For Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah. This book is a memoir that discusses the life and journey of the author. It shows us his resilience and how dedicated he was to the fight for his country.
Having grown up in Ain Bieda, a small town in the province of Constantine, the author got into schooling, which his mother took very seriously, seeing as she wanted the very best for her son. Being singled out due to a small incident in class just because he was the only Algerian was his first revulsion against racism. Getting into the university as a medical student, he met other people with whom he shared their interests in the fight against discrimination. They arranged meetings in revolt against the French, which eventually led to their arrest. The author went through so many experiences, from accepting a ministry of health assignment to making a scientific breakthrough. He also served as an ambassador during peace negotiations. In all of these, he got to meet world leaders and presidents. The author also delves deeper into his relationship life. We got to know more about his personal life, both physical and emotional side.
A Dream For Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is an insightful and well-written memoir that talks about and shows in detail how the author fought towards bringing peace. The book is written in an organized manner that makes it easier for readers to follow. We get to learn more about the author, from his birth to what inspired him to want better for his country. This book is precise and very thorough in the way that it covers the historical aspects of his country. It is also educative at the same time, which will be very suitable for readers.
One thing I do not particularly like about this book is how lengthy it is. It contains the history of both the author and his country. It discusses how the author was persistent in his fight for peace, making the book even bulkier. The lengthy nature of the book does make it a bit uneasy and difficult to read. The book was professionally edited, and I would rate it 4 out of 4 stars for how historically attuned his memoir is.
I would recommend this book to people who find an interest in the aspects of history, freedom fighting, and family life.
