Review of A Dream For Peace
We've all heard of our heroes' past, but how often do we get to read incredibly detailed books about their lives written by them? A Dream For Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is about a man's passion for his country and doing whatever he must to ensure freedom for his people. Born in Aïn Beïda, a small town in Algeria, Dr. Berrah grew up around hunters like his father and other beautiful sights like the native temples. During that period, the colonial masters (French settlers) were already present and claiming ownership of places that didn't belong to them, but all remained peaceful.
As time went by, things changed. There was racism and slavery. Dr. Berrah happened to study abroad, and he was one of the best. In his time as a medical student, he became an activist and worked with so many other admirable individuals, even those who weren't Muslims like him. He attained high positions in organizations like the Israeli Council for Israeli-Palestinian Peace (ICIPP) and the PLO. He was involved in peace talks between Israel and Palestine.
A Dream For Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is a memoir of the author's remarkable life. This book comprises 17 chapters and about 600 pages. The text is easily understandable and is a motivation for patriots of different nations. Despite the number of pages, a reader will find numerous things to like in this book and acknowledge Dr. Berrah's achievements. A Dream For Peace is professionally edited. There were a few grammatical errors and no punctuation errors, but the errors did not negatively affect my reading.
As an advocate of peace, I found the author's journey bold and thrilling. His bravery is a source of motivation to teach us how to strive for our goals no matter how impossible they may seem. His story teaches me a lesson on indifference in whatever form it may occur, from racism to religious indifference. He was a man who didn't let that matter and didn't judge others. Honestly, there is nothing I dislike about this book.
I rate this book, A Dream For Peace, four out of four stars. This book is undeniably commendable. The pattern of storytelling is enjoyable and emotional. This story talks about achieving peace and is a reminder that there is no gain in war. I recommend this book to citizens of Algeria and Africa who do not know about this great individual and to historians who may be interested.
