Retirement is a sensitive topic. It is something we tend to avoid having open conversations about. Nowadays, it even seems like a privilege rather than a human right. Before reading this book, I had not thought much about it. As a 28-year-old single mother of two, I find it very hard to acquire information about this topic from those around me. After completing the book, I have gained not only a different outlook on life, but the realization that much of what I need is already within me, and I just need more financial literacy. E. Alan Fleischauer has inspired me to reconfigure my plans early enough in life. So, I will start this review by saying thank you to the author for such an incredible and informative compilation of advice and information.

Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer speaks about the financial concepts associated with retirement, planning for the future, and the process of evaluating and re-evaluating one’s career path in order to obtain fulfillment and financial security in life. The comprehensive breakdown encompasses a wide array of aspects from investing and insurance to retirement planning, social security, and long-term care.

I enjoyed reading this book mainly because the information was very easy to digest, and the writing flowed. While the topics are very detailed and complex, the conversational tone, stories, and anecdotes made it quite digestible. There were numerous jokes and personal experiences that made it a very entertaining book to read; almost like Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. I also appreciate the many tips included as well as the use of charts and graphs and other graphics to further expound on the information given.

The book was written immaculately, in my opinion. However, there was one issue I encountered: I found that the parts explaining insurance were a bit difficult for someone with very little prior insight to comprehend. Perhaps the writer can consider breaking down this topic in his next book.

I rate Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer a three out of four stars because I am highly impressed with how he was able to break down such a complex topic into layman's terms so that even young people will be able to consider retirement planning and other important aspects of financial literacy.

I recommend this book to everyone who is feeling concerned about the security of their future. It really shines a light on how we can all work on our careers and finances in order to retire comfortably and debt free.
