A Dream For Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is a unique work of non-fiction that delves into the life and ordeals of the author. The book has 644 pages, and it is divided into seventeen chapters with specific headings. The book starts with the details of Ghoulem's childhood experience. Ghoulem was born in Aïn Beïda, Algeria. The first chapter of this book talks about Ghoulem's parents. His father died when he was three, and his mother did not give up on training Ghoulem to be the best version of himself. After he had completed his Cours Complémentaire, he moved over to Collège de Batna. Years later, he moved over to France to study medicine at the University of Bordeaux. At some point, he received a piece of bad news from home. His mother died, and she did not get to see him graduate from the university. The second chapter of this book talks about the negative things he encountered, and it also talks about his time in prison. Ghoulem experienced racism, discrimination, and colonialism. The book goes on to talk about his migration to Morocco. Before he left France, he met a beautiful young lady, Antoinette. How did the whole thing end? Did Algeria survive the adverse effects of colonialism and racism?

A Dream For Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is a work of non-fiction that was written with a first-person narrative. It is a memoir that revolves around the author's experience. This book has a table of contents, and it has an epilogue. This book has a prologue, and it gives an ample idea of what the book entails. Ghoulem did a good job of using understandable words to explain his ordeals. I was able to flow well with the author's perspective.

One of the major things I learned from the life of Ghoulem is determination. It is necessary to be determined because it helps one to persevere irrespective of unfavourable conditions. I also learned about devotion to faith and respect. In other words, there are a lot of things to learn from the author's escapades. I admire the relationship between Ghoulem and Antoinette.

I enjoyed reading this book. However, I did not notice any negative aspects while reading this work of non-fiction. The author did a good job in the formatting and characterization of this book. I learned a lot of lessons from this book, and I believe that other readers will learn from it too. Nationalism and colonialism are two different things, and it is interesting to know that Ghoulem passionately strived for the well-being of his people. I appreciate the efforts of colonialism, but I do not think that all the results of colonial efforts are positive. The positive aspect I noticed while reading this book revolves around Ghoulem's bond with his friends.

This book was well written. A Dream For Peace was exceptionally edited. I did not notice any grammatical or spelling errors while reading this book.

I love the way he looked out for his friends, and I also admire his principles. Secularism does not imply the absence or ignorance of religious faith. I recommend this memoir to lovers of non-fiction and memoirs. Therefore, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars due to the few points mentioned above and because of the author's personality.
