Review of A Dream For Peace
Dr. Ghoulem Berrah's memoir A Dream For Peace is about a young man who was passionate about his country's freedom and independence.
All African countries, except Ethiopia, were colonized by mostly European countries. Algeria was no exception. She was colonized by the French. Dr. Berrah happened to be born during this era. Rampant racism and discrimination then led to nepotism and a lack of respect for the natives. Dr. Berrah noticed all these, and he made it his life goal to fight this. When he got a scholarship to study medicine in France, that did not stop his fight, he formed student bodies that fought racism and discrimination in school and was also involved in delivering his country from the French. This activity put him in a dilemma that would later affect his future.
A Dream For Peace is a book everyone should read. I believe this is a book that will never go out of date. This is a historical memoir that every nation would learn from. It follows the life of the author from his young days to old age.
One thing I love about this book is the tolerance of religion the author exhibited. As a Muslim, the author corroborated with the Christians in the fight against discrimination and racism. Also, I love how he ensured women were not left out of the fight. This can be seen when his first wife actively participated in the protests and movements across campuses and even in her home country. With this, I could see how different the author's views of the world were and how this later inspired him to help fight in the world of science.
Also, I love the passion the author exhibited in the fight for freedom and independence for his country. The love was really inspiring for me, and I think it would be for every young reader, too, especially young Africans. Despite being young and in a very bad place to focus on his fight, that didn't make him relent. He left his country for France. This should have hindered his intention and maybe stopped his fight, yet going to France helped him fight better as he got the media's attention.
There was nothing I disliked about this book. Although it was a long read, I had a good time reading it, perhaps because I love historical books too. For this reason, I would give this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. The book was exceptionally edited, too, because there were no errors. I would recommend this book to all young people who are passionate about fighting for their rights and for their countries.

I am sure that having experience the ills of colonialism, the author would have pledge to promote peace. He is really an icon who has achieved a lot for himself. Thanks to the reviewer for an amazing review.
