Review of Surviving the Business of Healthcare
Are you prepared for a health emergency? In Surviving the Business of Healthcare - Knowledge is Power!, the author Barbara Galutia Regis PA-C, shares her view as a healthcare provider, patient, a patient’s loved one, and daughter of a physician. The many roles she had in life allowed her to show a complete point of view on the subject. Along the reading, she will talk about her grandfather and father, both medical doctors, and how their professions shape her infanthood, character, and knowledge.
The book is clear, easy to read, and addresses many popular issues in the area. Anyone can benefit from reading it, the topics are informative, and can be a deal breaker in certain situations. By showing you the insides of a doctor’s mind, what they see and feel, Surviving the Business of Healthcare - Knowledge is Power! will make you rethink and understand better what is happening and how to make intelligent decisions about your health and your loved ones. She also leads the reader on some important things to do when dealing with health practitioners, how to take the most of it, how to organize for an emergency, and even explains how the same entities work, such as insurance, government aid, hospitals, and pharmacies.
The book is meant to be informative, but its language addresses the reader as a person, it connects with your feelings, and you feel cherished by the author. It is a simple book, but at the same time adds great value by connecting points of view from all sides, this may be the high point and why was so good.
One point I didn’t like is that the author changes to telling a real story, giving information, giving an opinion, and proposing an imaginative scenario too quickly within the same chapter. This gave me a feeling of disorganization.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. The book is well written, and my feelings of disorganization are personal, not enough for me to take off one star. The goal of the author in writing was accomplished with honors.
I would recommend this book to almost anyone! From healthcare professionals to patients, would even recommend to hospitals keep a few copies in their waiting room, it could benefit the patient, but even the physician, as the patient will enter the consultation with a little more knowledge and confidence about what to expect.
