Review of Reconfigurement
Reconfigurement: Reconfiguring Your Life at Any Stage and Planning Ahead by E. Alan Fleischauer is an interesting novel that focuses on the importance of planning ahead. It covers a lot of topics ranging from planned retirement, affordable health insurance, long-term care alternatives, insurance, investing, 401(k), social security strategies, and a lot more. This book is basically a stepping stone for one to gain financial literacy as it promotes awareness about financial planning. The author helps in preparing the reader to live a financially stable and active life before retirement and after retirement.
One of the main concepts in this book is reconfigurement financial planning, and I absolutely loved and learnt a lot from reading about it. According to this book, the concept is about reconfiguring your life at any stage and planning ahead. The author laid the most emphasis on planning ahead. Based on research and as stated in the book, about seventy per cent of Americans quit their job due to one reason or the other without having a backup plan, and that shouldn’t be so. I loved how well the author was able to buttress his point on what he believes should be the new retirement strategy. He believes we need new retirement strategies that extend far beyond the traditional financial plan. He believes retirement strategies need to include a plan of action that actively incorporates pre- and post-retirement activities. He advocated for activities that, by necessity, include gainful employment well beyond the age of sixty-five. With these actions, without doubt, he is convinced that the reality of ageing Americans will be met. Lastly, despite being a lengthy read, I loved how direct the author was in making his point, and this made the book less tedious for me.
I didn't really dislike any part of the book, but I found some terms relating to retirement a bit foreign. As I grow older and get closer to the retirement age, I should be conversant with them. I consider this slight negative point to be inconsequential owing to the fact that I understand the book is meant for an audience that will better appreciate the terms used in it owing to the level of life they are on.
I believe Reconfigurement: Reconfiguring Your Life at Any Stage and Planning Ahead by E. Alan Fleischauer deserves all the credit it can get. That said, I rate it 4 out of 4 stars. I didn't find any error in this book, which shows it was exceptionally well edited.
I recommend this book to those seeking information that increases financial literacy and the desire to make long-term financial plans.
