I have seen a lot of lengthy non-fiction books, and I always skipped them, but there was this thing about this book that made me take it that I still can't explain. A Dream For Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is a memoir that preps readers to understand what freedom fighting means and how to go about it from Dr. Berrah's viewpoint.

Dr. Berrah was born into a polygamous family and was the only son of his mother. He hated injustice and always wished he could do something about the tyranny the people of France imposed on his people while colonizing them. Being so brilliant, Dr. Berrah was offered admission to France to study medicine. He harnessed his leadership qualities and became a revolutionist, not just for his people but for the world. This book is a story of a man who didn't just help Algeria gain independence but also did the same for a lot of African countries through the influence he had gotten while working as a professor.

Reading this book, I learned a lot, not only about the people of Algeria but also about some great nations in Africa. I had read many reviews about this book and was skeptical, but I then decided to satisfy my curiosity, and I must say that everything I read about it was true; the story didn't disappoint me. Though the book stressed activism, the most important theme was the need for peace. I was reading about De. Berrah, you will learn that he was boisterous toward patriotism and that this paid off. He was also influential in Cote d'Ivoire, serving as an advisor to their first president. I think the word "selfless" won't justify the author's selfless charisma.

I'm rating this book a 4 out of 4 as there were only errors. The book engaged me from the beginning to the end. The book was not lacking in any aspect. I would recommend it to people who are into activism or revolutionaries. People who enjoy memoirs also find them handy. I would advise you to look. He didn't just stop at Africa; he extended his peace program to countries like Israel and Palestine. The book was professionally edited.

It's an honor to have read about such a great man in Africa. Just like many heroes of Africa, Dr. Berrah deserves some accolades. I learned a lot about perseverance from this fantastic character. The book also served as a history book to help me acclimatize to Algeria as a nation.
