A Dream of Peace is a personal memoir written by Dr Ghoulem Berrah. In this book the author describes his life running in politics in Cote d'Ivore and Algeria. Berrah started schooling in Algeria during the colonial regime in the country and proceeded with his education where he finally completed his learning in India with a doctorate in neurosurgery and proceeded to practise politics in Cote d'Ivore.

Berrah includes his love and marriage life in this book. He makes tales of their interfaith marriage, Berrah being a muslim and his wife Titi being a christian. The interesting part of the book is his relationship with the Cote d'Ivorian president, president Felix Boigny and his diplomatic assignments in Africa and Arab countries.

There are tales of love, life, religion, betrayal, abuse and politics. Through it all Berrah maintains his position that faith, honour, duty, love, justice, peace and dialogue defines him. A Dream of Peace features some great advices about peace and justice before taking to violent and war direction as a method of solving disputes. His admirable human qualities shines through in his writing. His use of pictures and letters he wrote and those that were written to the president speaks directly to the reader. He uses themes to group similar stories together. With many interesting facts and anecdotes about the world opens the readers mind to the importance of peace and humanity in politics.

This book contain stories about toxic people and betreyal. The powerfull and saddening stories compells reading. Though Berrah has a helping heart his diplomatic skills also helps him to confront some negative behaviours he may discover in some people he interacts with regardless of ones position or economic status. I found myself fully engaged in this book, especially in the stories of Berrah's adventures in Jerusalem together with his wife. This confirmed to me that the places named in the Qur'an and the Bible are true and exist. As for negative, some sentences were too long and they could be shortened for clarity.

I now rate A Dream of Peace four out of four stars. This is after realising a professional edition inputted in the book. I found no typographical or grammar or spelling errors. The world needs more books like this. In addition, the author tells us that economic growth and prosperity can be achieved through an implied partnership between states and local governments but states and local governments must also assume primary responsibility for education system in order to produce a more skilled and dynamic workforce. All these can be achieved by maintaining peace and keeping dialogue with diplomacy skills.

What more could you ask from a memoir from a medical expert who practised politics in his whole life after schoool? The book could interest anyone who likes history and politics.
