A Dream for Peace by His Excellency Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is a memoir about a diplomat who was born in a small town in the province of Constantine, in northeastern Algeria, and grew up in a colonized Algeria under the French colony and education systems put in place by the French government. He was determined and passionate about the independence of his country and Africa as a whole leading him to put his life in great danger and is faced with immense difficulties alongside other patriots who would not stop until Africa was free and united. He takes us through his life since childhood up until his death and we get to see how he alongside other great leaders like President Houphouet-Boigny of Côte d'Ivoire , worked hand in hand and tirelessly to achieve a peaceful and united Africa. He is faced with alot of challenges and criticism even from his fellow country men but not once does he loose his great values, determination and beliefs for a greater Africa and his achievements, adventures and challenges are all uniquely captured in the memoir.

My positive feedback on the memoir is on religion. Dr. Ghoulem Berrah who was a Muslim, married a Christian wife, and how they uniquely respected and got involved in each other's religion with such humility and understanding and how they loved each other uniquely was very inspiring to read about. I also admired very much the way president Houphouet-Boigny led a country that believed in one common faith and one unique God. Despite one's specific religion, they all came together for the greater good of their country. Christian helped build Mosques and Muslims helped build churches. The way their convictions and beliefs intertwined in a unique way was surely humanity at its best and shows the countless benefits of peace and unity.

It was very saddening to read about the death of President Houphouet-Boigny and every negative that came after. It was so disappointing to read that after his death Côte d'Ivoire descended into gradual disarray, where the people were divided and the once peaceful united country was in a cycle of violence of a never ending power struggle and all the efforts and hard work that was put into place to get the country to where it was were taken for granted.

I rate this memoir3 out of 4 because it had very few grammatical errors and because I really enjoyed reading the book and was very much inspired by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah and all the great people he worked with.

I would recommend this book to anyone who believes in peace and unity and coming together for the greater good of humanity.
