A Dream for Peace is a memoir that details the life of Dr. Ghoulem Berrah, the author, and his efforts to advance human freedom and peace. It is usual to read about people who conquered challenges, so when the reader starts to read this work, he unavoidably thinks, "How is it possible for someone to have encountered so many diverse things?"

Dr. Ghoulem Berrah was born in colonized Algeria at a time when there weren't many schools or teachers. When he was a little child, his father passed away. His mother was primarily responsible for raising him. He was the first to respond to racism and discrimination when he first encountered it in his local school in Algeria. He received a scholarship to further his medical studies in France. He experienced a lot of bigotry and discrimination while living in France. He founded and shared leadership of some groups on campus that opposed racism in both France and Algeria. Regrettably, they were persecuted and in danger of being expelled from school.

The author describes his early years, his familial and educational background, the nature, culture, conventions, and values of his people, as well as the unpleasant encounters they had with their colonial overlords. Dr. Berrah was a fortunate pupil to be awarded a scholarship to attend a college in France. He actively participated in politics while he was in school and frequently urged and reminded his fellow Algerian brothers of the importance of the country's liberation. However, he encountered numerous challenges along the way, including bigotry, rejection, and jail. Despite this situation, he was nevertheless able to make a bigger and more significant impact on world issues.

There were no misunderstandings because of the plot's organization and coherence. Politics drew the most interest, despite the fact that it covered a wide range of themes. The author's spirit during the struggle for independence for his beloved country was one of the most significant aspects of this novel that I loved. He never gave up despite difficulties and hostility. He never had trouble getting back into the fray.

Overall, the book merits 4 out of 4 stars. The book is engrossing and exposes a lot of behind-the-scenes information. It was great to know more about Ghoulem Berrah's accomplishments and his unique life. I advise everyone who is interested in knowing more about the history of Africa following the period of decolonization to read this book. Expect nothing vulgar or pornographic in this novel because Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is an eloquent and refined diplomat.
