Review of My life uncensored
My Life Uncensored is a non-fiction story about a young girl, Cristina. She lost her father at four and a half years old. Cristina Caymares, the author, grew up with her mother and siblings. She feared her elder sister for some reason. The girl got used to her home. She never enjoyed staying in LA, her grandmother's place. She was used to Miami. Every time Cristina and her sister visited their grandmother, Cristina was homesick. Her grandfather was not around because he was sentenced to life imprisonment for committing an offence. Nevertheless, she talked to her grandfather daily because her mother called her grandfather almost daily to check up on him.
Cristina experienced a lot in life as she grew up. She was very secretive. She never revealed what Tío Rolly did to her when she found him in the restroom. She got involved in various relationships at a younger age. Most of them never worked. Either she damped someone or someone broke her heart. Of all the things and experiences she had, she praised her grandmother for being a guardian angel. She sewed dresses for her and her sister. She taught her everything. Cristina dedicated different chapters in this book to her grandfather, mother and grandmother.
This is a touching story by Cristina. Growing up without parental love is difficult. I don't know why, but there is something special about grandmothers. They satisfactorily love their grandchildren. This story has just reminded me of my grandmother. She is alive, and she loves me so much. I connected to this book in various ways. I also lost my father when I was young. This was a great read for me. I admired the love that her family had rendered to her grandfather. They still cared for him in his absence.
I liked several things in this book. It is easy to comprehend. I liked how the author introduced her relations in the book. You can easily see her family tree. She divided the book into four chapters. This also gave me a good guide as I was reading the story. She has sweetened the book by embedding photos of her and her family. The title and the cover attracted me to read this book. It could be better if the author included a table of contents at the beginning. It could also be better if each chapter had a heading.
I found a few errors that did not distract me from enjoying the book. I can confirm that the writer and editors did a great job. It is well-edited. For that reason, I give this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend this book to everyone who likes biographies. They may enjoy this book. The grandmother took her grandchildren to church, and the author loved it. Though such is the case, this book does not influence anyone to go to church. Therefore, I consider it good for all people of various religions.
