Since October 24,1961, the disappearence of Joan Carolyn Risch started a long crime investigation. She disappeared leaving a bloody kitchen, but no corpse. Her older daughter is the one that goes to a neighbor telling him she can’t find her mom. The neighbor goes into their house and finds the kitchen scene with blood on the floor. Our book A Kitchen Painted in Blood is a true crime book by Stephen H. Ahren that tells the story of the investigation process of finding Joan Carolyn, mother of two and wife of Massachusetts. A LA detective and a former FBI criminal profiler are the most valuable investigators in this case. They find new clues and access undisclosed facts about the crime. Will they find the criminal? Or was it a suicidal scene? A book full of rumors and hidded facts about bloody crimes. The backround of the crime in this book is one of the most mysteryous in the history of local crimes and it went through piles of news and newspapers without being solved.

After all, this is a gem for the non-fictional literature. It has a lot of intriguing pharagraps and personages. From a reader point of view it makes you question the innocence of all the people around Joana Risch and keeps a good doze of adrenaline and curiosity all along the reading. A thing that I liked the most was the fact that it contained more details about the crime than it was publicly published on the internet, newspapers or forums..

The author done a excellent job in finding new clues and bringing a deeper new outlook about the true crime. From very analytical and objective point of view the author takes the crime solving in both hands and builds a lightening path in resolving the crime. There are no flaws in this writting from my point of view.

I am giving it 4 out of 4 stars for all the reasons mentioned above and congrulating the author for this work of art. It is one of the best police novel I have ever read and it is a valuable starting pack for a passionate crime reader. It has the quality of a book with a lot of action but simple to read, to observe the details and to understand, even for a reader that does not have much patience.

I would recommend this book starting from 14 years old, it gives you some sort of spine shivering and it is too much for a 12 years old for exemple, beside it is a true crime novel and it is quite scary thinking those things happens in real life and could happen to you.

In conclusion, this is a very good book, a little bit going to the horror side at the beggining, but it is worth reading as both categories, for people that like police novels and for people that prefer horror books.
