Thomas Woodrow Wilson once said, "There is no higher religion than human service. To work for the common good is the greatest creed." The book, A Dream For Peace, is a life story of a man who has dedicated the entirety of his life to the service of humanity. In this book, Dr. Ghoulem Berrah shares his journey through life and his meteoric rise as an international diplomat.

The book starts with the author's early days as a child in his native Algeria. From there, it moves to his educational pursuit at a French University and subsequent activism as a student leader. He was incarcerated as a student leader. Through divine providence, he was released and deported to Morocco. He served as a medical doctor in the Moroccan Army. From there, he went on to study in America. He achieved giant strides as a scientist and researcher at the American University. But then, when the clarion call from President Félix Houphouët-Boigny came to the famed doctor, he couldn't resist. The Ivorian President called Ghoulem to come and work with him. The author accepted, and this birthed an incredible sojourn in public service and international diplomacy. Get this book to discover how Ghoulem steered through the challenges and became a world-renowned diplomat.

Beyond being a memoir of Dr. Ghoulem, this book also presents an abridged history of Africa in general and West Africa in particular. The book has themes such as racism, colonialism, love, leadership, and loyalty. I love so many things about this book. First of all, I love the unalloyed allegiance exhibited by Dr. Ghoulem to his boss, President Félix Houphouët-Boigny. In a world where people are self-seeking and personal interests rule, the author dropped his interests to pursue, in totality, the interest of the institution he willingly pledged to serve. This is highly admirable. Another character of the author that I love from this memoir is his brevity. Even in the face of fierce opposition, Dr. Ghoulem defied all odds to achieve set goals. I also love his ability to strategize effectively and solve problems.

There is nothing to dislike in this memoir. I believe that this is one of the greatest leadership books ever. The delivery of the book is engaging. I was captivated from the very first page of the book. The book also gave me an insight into international politics. The book also has a beautiful love story to lighten things up a bit. I give this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. This perfect rating is given because the life of Dr. Ghoulem is worthy of emulation in all respects. The lessons in this memoir are innumerable. The book was excellently edited. There are no typos or grammatical errors in this book.

This book is suitable for very young audiences. It is devoid of vulgarity. I especially recommend this book for young people in Africa. This book should be introduced to students in high schools and colleges in Africa. It would help build them and prepare them for leadership.

This man needs no introduction to African students of history. The story of Ivory Coast can never be complete without him being mentioned.

This was a time when humans were not divided between religious and ethnic lines. Why an Algerian can serve in the Senegalese government.
