Living in Color is a book written by Mike Murphy which is a love story. It focuses on the author, who is a character in the book, and his lover, Margot where their love life is affected by the cancer struggles but which leads to the bond between them, their friends and family being strengthened.

Mike Murphy is a father of four and is married to Lisa. They later separate because Mike falls in love with Margot. How they met was kind of funny to me because of how Margot introduces her friend and herself pretending to have met Mike before. They just couldn't deny their love for one another and that forced them to make a tough choice of leaving their partners since both of them were married. The book is about the journey of Margot's fight with cancer. It showed me how caring Mike was, which made me admire his actions. He is a kind and loving man. His actions meant a lot to Margot.

Margot being my favorite character in the book kept me reading. She got some sense of humor. A number of times I found myself getting her jokes this made it interesting to read. The author does not only narrates the true life story but also adds the conversations with the other characters. And the most interesting part was the pictures, he attached some pictures of some characters in the book. This was what I liked the most because i was able to know some characters individually hence there was no need to create a different image of them in mind. The author uses songs and poems which makes the book enjoyable. Scenes in the book were well written because the sad and happy parts were clear.

Actually, there's nothing I disliked about the book. It is impossible for someone to get bored with something real and touching. The book brings out different themes but I could clearly identify the theme of family and love as the major ones. Also the book doesn't have a lot of pages therefore it was not tiring to read. The dates are also included which informs the reader of the exact days of the events.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars because it is a great read. It was exceptionally edited. From the book there is a lot to learn which I myself did. The book is a good fit for all readers since there is no profanity or sexual content in it hence I recommend that any person can read it.
