Peace is a commonly discussed topic and the Muslims even have a saying when they meet, “As-salaam alaikum and the receiver responds “Wa-alaikum as-salaam. This is like saying peace be upon you and the recipient replies peace be upon you also. Is there peace actually in real life scenario? Dr. Ghourem Bellah shares with us what he thinks is peace as he lives his life and the efforts he has made as an individual in the advancement of peace. He writes from the viewpoint of a presidential advisor, a position that offered him an upper hand in his pursuit for peace

I liked the authors prospects of pursuing peace not only within his countries borders but also internationally though keen emphasis were in Africa. The book clearly takes us though the authors life which wasn't smooth right away since he had to traverse through the period of colonial rule in his country and we all know how it was marred with violence. He happens to be on the frontline in fighting for the freedom of their country from the shackles of colonialism and all inhumane acts it allowed to thrive.

The book clearly shows how the fight for peace isn't a smooth one and we have to embrace the fact that some lives are to be lost in the process of enchanting freedom. What is good in the end is for the people coming after us to live with no attachments to the horrid past regardless of the sacrifices made. I generally liked the book and would commend the author for the well done spacing and font employed. The book has been professionally edited with little to no errors. The authors lifestyle in essence portrayed a real sense of peace with others and the surrounding. As a peace activist, I generally liked the book and found nothing to hate.

It is quite significant to recognize that the author has attached a good number of photos almost after every page in order to show proof of work done. Going through the book was quite uplifting especially after they had earned their freedom with the end of colonialism. I must say school is a vital part of our lives since we not only learn to get good jobs but also acquire knowledge to help us in life's long journey. Ghoulem Bellah also showed his humility by playing by given rules despite his age which surely portrayed a fulfilled life on his part.

I would give the book a perfect 4 out of 4 stars all due to the concept of peace which has been able to bring out a version of me who not only wants to bring peace but also find inner peace, inner joy and hence live a fulfilled life in the long run. This book should go out to young people necessarily those who have ambitions and goals to live behind a better world than they found it.
