Review of 28 Disastrous Dates: A (Mostly True) Humourous Memoir
"I said, I would love it if you locked me in one of your white gloss cupboards." Who does that? Definitely not normal. Can one ever find the courage to seek love after several hilariously disastrous dates and failed relationships? 28 disastrous dates, a memoir, by Poppy Mortimer is a captivating and enticing story well told with unbelievable humour to spice it all up. This story entails a woman, Poppy, who in the bid to find love, has to go on several questionable dates that have her vowing to never try again. Our main character, as we would realise, is a strong and determined woman who never stops trying to find a new path hoping it would be her last. This book will definitely have one hooked from the very first page to the last with it's entrancing and funny events.
There are a lot of good sides to this book. Firstly, it educates us on socially acceptable behaviours. It also gives psychology tips, showing us how insensitive and abnormal some humans can be and the perfect way to handle certain situations we are presented with. It encourages readers to be self-sufficient, appreciate self and learn that abuse and scorn is out of the question.
However, a negative side to this book has to do with it's unusual and disturbing sexual scenes and abnormal social behaviours exhibited by some of it's characters.
'I rate this book 4 out of 4'. 28 disastrous dates by Poppy Mortimer is an exceptional book. From the plot, setting and theme, to the undeniable humour, the book could be labeled as perfect. I enjoyed every single page paying close attention to her humour and wise words. It gave me something to laugh about after strenuous hours of work and school. This book was edited to perfection as I found no typos or mistakes while reading and I highly commend the author's use of language and vocabulary.
This book should be read by everyone interested in dating and finding a life partner. As a woman, it gives an insight on things that are not to be tolerated in the course of a relationship. It also encourages women to be assertive of what they want in a man and in a relationship. As a male reader, it gives lessons on behaviours that should be avoided and abandoned if one is searching for a healthy relationship. It also gives information on anti-social behaviours and attitudes, how to treat women better, and symptoms you could notice about yourself and know that it is time to visit a therapist. I believe this book has a lot to offer and should be read by a variety of people.

I could've made good use of this book when I was younger!
I enjoyed reading your review Real Dii, you provided all the right information to create intrigue without including spoilers. I like that you wrote different recommendations for the female and male perspective - great idea. Thank you.
