Review of A Dream For Peace
Have you ever known that tranquillity and unity are the key accelerators to the sustainable growth of a country?. When there is a peaceful co-existence among people, economic security, social development and political stability are much achievable. During the colonial era, African natives faced a lot of oppression in their land which prompted individuals to call for independence. For instance, Dr Ghoulem Berrah is a replica of such few individuals who championed independence in Algeria. A Dream For Peace is a memoir that explores the life of Dr Ghoulem from the time he was born and the accomplishments he achieved as a resistance fighter throughout his progression/journey to restore peace. The life of Dr Ghoulem Berrah is full of fantasy in that he did notable things in different fields and different countries. For example, not only was he an activist but also fought for freedom, racism and discrimination. He also served as a special advisor to the president of Ivory Coast Houphouet Boigny. Being born in a place that valued education, he pursued a medical degree and went on to become a professor. As if that was not enough for him, he discovered the selective inhibition of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria in DNA synthesis. The way he also interacted with historical people and prominent characters and his effortlessly struggle to restore peace between Israel and Palestine is quite unbelievable.
A Dream For Peace is an interesting and elaborate memoir. What I adored about the book is the matrix of trajectory issues that it brings into existence. Religion, politics, marriage and science are some of the themes the author has structured. It's also amazing the way Dr Ghoulem Berrah made a balance in his life to accomplish the themes in this narrative. I liked the fact that in every decision he took, he always/barely aimed for peace. I also liked the author's vivid description and narration he used to break the whole ideologies and overturn events. The use of simple language and the flawless plot bolsters the story quality. The book is also enlightening as it uncovers those events that happened behind closed doors. For instance, Fidel Castro who was to give a speech was considered to create a dangerous situation and Dr Ghoulem having received the speech transcript hours earlier, said: "What if we mute the microphone after a trigger?". The implication of this was that there were technical problems, but this was just a clever manoeuvre by a gifted diplomat.
The book is fascinating and there is absolutely nothing to hate about it. Being historically based, the book was enthralling and educative. I also loved the tenacity and diplomacy Dr Ghoulem exhibited in their fervent for peace. I found the book enjoyable and nothing frustrating.
The book A Dream For Peace was professionally edited. Although I encountered some errors throughout the reading, am pleased to rate it a 4 out of 4 stars. The smooth flawless and direct speech involvements portray the image of real characters which makes the story more captivating and mind-capturing.
Being historically based, it centres its ideas on politics, social cultures and economic advancements of the people of North and West Africa. The book would please anyone who loves and appreciate history. Individuals interested in learning/exploring the African base of colonialism would find it of great help. The vivid description and the exhaustive narration in the book paint a clear picture of political history, diplomacy, and colonialism in Africa. Thus, a thought-provoking narrative.
