Review of Surviving the Business of Healthcare
Written by Barbara Galutia Regis PA-C, Surviving the Business of Healthcare is a book that aims to help provide information about the healthcare system with the hope of empowering its readers to make better decisions for themselves and their families by using the author's extensive experience as a primary care provider. This book provides the means to help readers navigate through healthcare's confusing system, get the right answers, prepare for the unexpected, and save money and time. Completed in the throes of her cancer treatment, Barbara brings her unique perspective as a doctor and a patient into this book. The book contains chapters that provide advice that applies to both those who hope to practice medicine and those who wish to arm themselves with further knowledge of the healthcare system. This book discusses topics such as health insurance as well as emergency plans. It also provides information on the roles of various medical practitioners.
I loved the stories she shared. This book is filled with some of her childhood experiences as the daughter of a family doctor. The stories reduced the distance between her and the readers and made her a little more relatable. I love that this book provides advice to people that hope to join the medical field as well as those who wish to gather some knowledge about the healthcare system. I loved the scenarios that the author included. These scenarios made her advice easier to understand.
This book is short and easy to understand. The chapters were not too lengthy, which made this book easy to digest. I love that she discussed health insurance and included information on health insurance options. Health insurance is something that I feel everyone ought to have. The author helped to reduce some of the obstacles that face those who wish to acquire their own health insurance. The author also included some alternative ways to purchase medicine. There was nothing I hated about this book.
I give this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. The scenarios, the tales from the author's childhood, the conciseness of this book, the author's decision to include information on health insurance options, and the inclusion of alternative means of purchasing medicine all contributed to this book's final rating. I found some errors while reading this book; therefore, this is a professionally edited book.
I would recommend this book to those who wish to venture into the medical field or those who wish to bolster their knowledge of the healthcare system. This book truly will empower its readers to make better decisions that pertain to their healthcare.
