Bringing change to society doesn't seem too easy. I have read a lot of memoirs about great men who tried to bring about a change in a society or even a nation at large. A Dream For Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is a remarkable memoir that will captivate the minds of all readers. This explains the journey of the author in trying to bring change to his country and beyond. This story is inspirational and has a lot of lessons one could learn from it.

The author, Dr. Ghoulem, was born into a polygamous family in a small town in Algeria. The town had a lot of security challenges. The author's mom was a disciplinarian who took an interest in her children's education. Algeria was under the rule of French colonial masters. This made French a core subject in their curriculum. The feeling of studying a foreign culture in your country would be painful. An anti-colonial protest was staged at the graduation ceremony due to the event that occurred during the giving of the award to the excellent student. I was amazed at the author's reaction to it. The author was awarded a scholarship to any university he wanted. This was not the end of the author's fight for independence. The author was later arrested. Everyone would love to read about the event that occurred later on. Grab a copy.

I was delighted to read about a man who had been through a lot to seek peace. The story of Dr. Ghoulem's life during the decolonization of Algeria was fascinating. I loved his bravery and was also impressed by the milestones he reached in his career. He met different notable world leaders and was the first scientist to ever formulate a hypothesis on what was later identified as Reverse Transcriptase Enzyme. This book brings hope, especially to African countries. I so much enjoyed this memoir because Dr. Ghoulem was not only an activist or diplomat; he was also a good father, friend, great son, brother, and role model. Every reader should emulate the good qualities of the author. I found out that running away from your country isn't the solution. I commend everyone who took part in this book.

There was nothing to dislike about his book except the few errors I found, which did not impede my reading, and the complex abbreviations, which slowed my reading pace. Aside from this, the book was fascinating with an exceptional writing style.

Based on what has been said thus far, I will rate this book 4 out of 4 stars, as what has been said thus far is insufficient to deduct any stars. I will recommend this book to lovers of memoirs. Those who are interested in politics would also find this book amazing.
