Review of A Dream For Peace
One of my favorite non-fiction books is A Dream for Peace. The title of the book enticed me. This was enough to get me to pick it up and read it. Dr. Ghoulem Berrah wrote the book in such a way that I was able to envision everything just as he intended. Furthermore, the book's cover is attractive.
This interesting story steers the life and work of Dr. Ghoulem Berrah, the author of the book. He grew up in Algeria, which was then under French colonial administration. He had a fascinating life. Furthermore, he was able to study medicine in France as a result of his hard work. The book's positive aspects are that it is fast-paced and intriguing. Even after graduating as a doctor, he went on to perform research that led to discoveries in biological sciences. He had a goal of helping people and future generations as a revolutionary ambassador working to reclaim the heritage of his country, Algeria. He fled the country for security reasons and relocated to Côte d'Ivoire. Later, he became a diplomatic advisor to the country's president.
I enjoyed the author's writing approach in this novel. In his story narration, he used both first-person and third-person perspectives. I could hear the characters in the book chatting as he talked of his strong connection with President Houphouet. The use of dialogue adds to the intrigue of the plot. Dr. Ghoulem was the character in the novel that I liked the most. He was a dedicated freedom warrior who worked tirelessly to bring peace and unity to his country and the rest of the world. President Siad Barre, the president of Somalia at the time, was the character I liked the least. He was a dictator, leading his country through a horrific civil war. Despite the author's excellent writing style, his story unfolds in such a way that if the reader is not attentive, he or she may become disoriented while reading it due to a jumble of events. Get a copy of this book and read it to learn more about the events that Dr. Ghoulem Berrah experienced.
I rate this book four out of four for the reason that it is both informative and educational. It was also professionally edited. While reading it, I discovered no grammatical errors or spelling mistakes. Furthermore, the author's writing style was excellent. He used straightforward language that made the story easier to comprehend. The story's plot was interesting and flowed well. The characters were interesting and well-rounded. The book also contained subtitles and page numbers to enhance comprehension of the plot.
People who are interested in history and wish to be motivated and enlightened about peace and unity should read this instructive book. Anyone interested in politics and diplomacy in post-colonial Africa should read it too because it is about a journey towards independence and peace.
