Review of A Dream For Peace

[Following is a volunteer review of "A Dream For Peace" by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah.]

In their declining years, many people feel a desire to take a long view of the past years and share their experiences. Some even write memoirs. The book A Dream For Peace written by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah definitely belongs to this genre.

Its author really has something to say. What has he not been up to in his long life! Dr. Ghoulem Berrah was in the ranks of the Algerian Resistance, received a medical education, made a scientific discovery and finally reached considerable heights in the diplomatic field. A few can boast of having met face to face with John F. Kennedy and Mao Zedong.

A Dream For Peace is excellently edited. There are no typos or errors. Besides, it is written in wonderful literary language. Perhaps this writing style may seem a little old-fashioned and pretentious. However, it should be remembered that A Dream For Peace was penned by a former diplomat. Some solemnity and ceremony in the presentation are quite natural and normal. It would be strange to talk about prominent people and historical events in colloquial terms. This old-fashioned ornate style even lends a peculiar charm to this piece of literature.

The structure of this book is particularly interesting. Dr. Ghoulem Berrah skillfully intersperses a long account of his scientific and diplomatic career with chapters on his private life and philosophical views. This allows readers to take a breather from the flow of political events, historical dates and famous names. One of the chapters even tells about funny incidents with different politicians.

Thus, A Dream For Peace is an excellently written and quite interesting book. This literary work will be very useful for the readers interested in the recent history of Africa and the Middle East. Along with this, A Dream For Peace has another important merit.

By virtue of his profession, the author had to deal with a variety of people. They were very different from him in their origin, political and religious views. Nevertheless, Dr. Ghoulem Berrah writes honestly and at the same time respectfully about each of them. For example, he doesn’t throw mud at his political opponents. Few people are capable of this. In essence, A Dream For Peace teaches decency.

As for any shortcomings, they just can't be found in A Dream For Peace. Therefore, I give this book 4 out of 4 stars. As mentioned earlier, this literary work can be recommended to those readers who are especially interested in political science, history and international relations.

Oh wow. It is such a beautiful piece. The story alone will inspire any right-thinking person to struggle on to achieve in life. The style of writing and other finesse about it is enticing. I'd like to read it too.😁

I tried this book but it was way too long for me to continue with it. Nevertheless, it gives a unique insight into the development of African countries and their fight for independence. Thank you for a great review!

I've come across this book countless times. Let me tell you, I find myself questioning the book because of it's length. I don't want to start what I can't finish, lol. But with your detailed review, I might be giving it a read soon.

If the book is interesting, then its length is more of an advantage than a disadvantage. This book is really interesting. In addition, it tells about true events.

Anyway, thank you for stopping and commenting.
